Enroll Now in Gavilan College STAR Program Theatre and TV Performing Arts Camps for Youth Hands on Acting! Kids on Stage! Since 1985!

WHO:  The Gavilan College Summer Theatre Arts Repertory (STAR) Program offers theatre and TV performing arts camps for youth.  Since 1985, STAR has created a safe place for creative expression and has transformed hundreds of children's lives by helping to boost their confidence and poise; encouraging their creative spirits; and teaching them collaboration, teamwork, and respect.

WHAT/ WHEN/ WHERE:  STAR once again offers several wonderful programs this season, starting with our Saturday morning acting and TV mini-camp in March, where participants can create their own unique characters for a TV variety show.  This mini-camp is perfect for youth that want to explore the performing arts, without the commitment of a multiple-week, full-day program.

Now celebrating our 26th year of summer fun, STAR once again offers three great programs this summer to inspire your child’s creative spirit:  STAR Gilroy 2011 participants will present the popular main stage musical Lionel Bart’s OLIVER!, STAR Video 2011 offers youth the opportunity to learn basic television and video production skills to create and produce their own videos in the Gavilan College TV Studio, and STAR San Juan Bautista 2011 participants will present Pedro Calderon de la Barca’s LIFE IS A DREAM at the historic El Teatro Campesino Playhouse.

STAR Gilroy 2011 and STAR San Juan Bautista 2011 are theatre performing arts day camps.  Students experience performing arts fundamentals through fun theatre games, improvisational acting, vocal coaching, and movement exercises, culminating in a wonderful stage performance.  In the mornings, participants focus on production rehearsals, and in the afternoons, they enjoy fun camp (unit, workshop, or whole group) activities, including fun-themed days, such as “Rock STAR Day” or “Pirate Day”.
