Gavilan Rams alumnus Darryl Grace to be inducted into Central Missouri's State University Athletics Hall of Fame

WHO: Darryl Grace attended Gavilan College  from 2001-2002, playing two seasons.He lettered as a freshman and earned all-conference honors as an offensive lineman. At Gavilan College he majored in Aviation Technology, eartning a grade point average of 3.54.

He was then recruited to transfer and play for Central Missouri State University. Grace earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Technology as a Professional Pilot in May 2005, with a  3.6 GPA, and a Masters Degree in Aviation Safety in December 2005, with a 4.0 GPA. He is now the Assistant Director of Operations/Chief Pilot for Mokulele Airlines. Prior to attending Gavilan College, Grace attended Konawaena High School in Hawaii, playing three years of varisty football and basketball and earned first-team all-league honors as a junior and senior.

At CMSU  he played for the 2003 Co-MIAA Championship team, and winning teams in 2004 and 2005. 2003  In 2003 he was 1st team All-MIAA, 1st team All-Region; Academic All-MIAA; Honorable Mention All-American. In 2004 he won an Eph & Mary Jane Markey Scholarship. In 2005he was again 1st team All-MIAA, All-Region, AFCA 1st team All-American; Academic All-MIAA; 2nd team Academic All-District; MIAA Commissioner Academic  Honor Roll and Cactus Bowl All-Star game participant.

When informed of his honor by CMSU, Darryl wrote: " I would describe myself as a hardworker or as a person who would find a way to get the job done. I think my teammates would say the same.I never thought I was ever good but always strived to be known as great.  However, my family was my motivation.  I always thought of the sacrifices my parents were making so that I could achieve my dreams.  Utilizing that as motivation, video studying of opponents, techniques taught at practice, and owning the opponents' will was what helped me achieve my goals."

WHAT: Inducted into the Central Missouri State University Athl;etics Hall of Fame. To be eligible for selection to the Hall of Fame in the student-athlete or team categories, nominees must have completed their eligibility or competition at least five years prior to selection. Student-athlete nominees must have earned at least two varsity letters at CMSU. Qualifications and criteria are based primarily upon accomplishments at Central Missouri State, but also may include accomplishments outside the university.
