Gavilan College presents Shakespeare's Twelfth Night

Who: Gavilan College's production of Twelfth Night was developed in the Actor's Workshop course (Thea 13A - D). The actors range in age from their early twenties to their sixties! This wonderful version of Shakespeare's play was adapted by Randall Stuart, Founder and Director of Cerimon House in Portland. Stuart spent two weeks in workshops with the actors.

Twelfth Night is directed by Dr. John Lawton-Haehl, with outstanding technical support, design in sound, lights and set by Izzy Quistain, Gavilan's new Technical Director. Quistain was aided by Mr. Bill Klipstine, with the help of his stage production students (Thea 14). Liz Falvey, Dance & Movement for Actors instructor (Thea 11), choreographed the dance scene and assisted in staging the opening. Thanks to all these artists' hard work and dedication, the Gavilan College Theatre Arts Program has created this wonderful production for the public!

What: Twelfth Night was written by Shakespeare late in the reign of the Virgin Queen, Elizabeth I. Its first recorded performance is for the concluding festivities for the holiday season on the twelfth day of Christmas. This romantic comedy includes a wide range of familiar Shakespearean characters and situations: twins separated by a shipwreck, a fool, cases of mistaken identity, a lovelorn Count, a young lady disguised as a man, and pirates!
