JLE143:  BAS POL ACAD LEV II


Course Description

This is a 260 hour course satisfies California Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) minimum training mandates for Basic Academy Modular Level II. The course covers fundamental principles, procedures and techniques of law enforcement including criminal law, patrol procedures, cultural diversity, investigative procedures, report writing, community relations, defensive tactics and firearms. PREREQUISITE: Completion of POST Basic Police Academy Modular Level III course Completion of POST Level II course entry requirements Medical insurance Valid California drivers license DOJ clearance per Penal Code 13511.5


Learning Outcomes

  • Select and demonstrate appropriate principles and procedures of use of force concepts and arrest and control techniques.
  • Compose and evaluate investigative crime reports
  • Demonstrate proper shooting techniques including daylight/night handgun use
  • Demonstrate the ability to resolve simulated law enforcement situations efficiently and professionally
  • Identify and formulate methods of collecting and marking evidence
  • Evaluate and appraise behavior related to criminal activity and validate decision making regarding detention, arrest and release
  • Define and assess crime elements related to crimes against property and crimes against persons
  • Analyze the role of law enforcement in society including ethnics and leadership, community relations, persons with disabilities and community awareness
  • Define Discrimination
  • Identify categories of controlled substances
